Comenius
1592—1670

The times between insanity and sanity
John Amos Comenius and his world

20. 12. 2020 — 31. 5. 2021

A Unique exhibition
held at the Prague Castle Riding Hall

In 2020, the entire cultural world commemorated the 350th anniversary of the death of a Moravian native, scholar, pedagogue and theologian of European fame, John Amos Comenius (1592–1670). Comenius is one of the central figures of Czech and European cultural memory and remains a cornerstone of national, denominational and professional collective identity. From the beginnings of modern reflection of his work and personality, an inexhaustible number of artistic, literary, and later also theatrical and film works were created, which confirmed and at the same time — in the reverse direction — strengthened the historical significance of the "teacher of nations".

"We are all of us seated in the great theater of the world: whatever happens here affects everyone."
John Amos Comenius

The Exhibition

The exhibition is ready and waiting to open its doors to its first visitors. We shall open as soon as the anti-epidemic measures allow. In the meantime, do take a look at the exposition as installed at the Prague Castle Riding Hall.
